Support FAQs

Frequently Asked Support Questions

Why is it important to update the WordPress core & plugins?

WordPress, the engine that powers your website, updates its code frequently (about 20-30 times per year). These updates bring added functionality to your website, but more importantly, they often provide patches for security vulnerabilities. Allowing your WordPress version to become out-of-date, puts your website at higher risk for a security breach.

Can't I just update WordPress & plugins myself?

The quick answer to this question is “yes” and most of the time, updating the core code and plugins goes very smoothly. However, every once in a while, there is an incompatibility with either the core, the theme you are using and / or the plugins being used. This could manifest as a minor display bug or it may completely break the website. By having a WordPress professional handle these updates, any issues can be addressed immediately, ensuring your website stays online and functional.

What does remote file storage mean?

All backups provided as part of a security or update package are sent offsite to another server (not the same one you are using to host your website). This is an extra layer of protection in case anything happens to the files on your hosting server.

What is site restoration insurance?

Site restoration insurance means that in the event your website is hacked, we will take the necessary steps to get your site back online at no extra cost to you.

What is an "update session"?

1 session is a minimum of 30 minutes of work during an update. Clients are encouraged to group update requests together to fully take advantage of the allotted time in the plan.

For example, if you needed 3 items updated on your site and you sent the request all together in one email, assuming it took less than 30 minutes to complete all 3 items, this would count only as 1 update session. Conversely, if those 3 updates were sent individually, then that would be counted as 3 update sessions.
